Seb Lester is a designer and artist based in the UK. He has developed logos and type illustrations for some of the world’s biggest companies, publications and events, including the likes of NASA, Apple, The New York Times and The 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. An obsession with calligraphy has pushed his work in exciting directions.

Chief Design Officer | Sound United

As Chief Design Officer of Sound United, Michael DiTullo is passionate advocate as well as experienced practitioner of design. There he is responsible for ethnographic research, product definition, product line management, design strategy, brand positioning, industrial design, interaction design, and brand creative for the Definitive, Polk, and BOOM brands. In addition to his work at Sound United he is a contributor for the well-known design resource, core77.com. Prior to Sound United Michael was Creative Director at the legendary frog design, where he lead teams that worked with Google, Motorola, Honda, Braun, Brooks, Harmon Kardon, and Intel. Before frog DiTullo spent nearly a decade developing several product collections at Nike Inc for the Converse, Jordan, and Nike brands, from advanced concept to production. He started his career at Evo Design where he worked for a wide array of clients. DiTullo holds a BFA in Industrial Design from the Rhode Island School of Design and also studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art and Domus Academy in Milan. His work has garnered international awards and has been featured in many media outlets and publications.

Orion Tait

Creative Director | Principal, Buck.

Orion Tait is a New York based director and partner at Buck, a design-driven production company with offices in New York and Los Angeles. With a background in film making, fine arts and graphic design, his varied body of work is rooted in visual story-telling; a self-proclaimed style agnostic, Orion's work continues to push the boundaries of innovation and quality in the commercial realm, employing live action, CG animation, special effects, cel, stop motion, or a combination there in. Orion is a creative thinker, and champion of Buck's celebrated culture of collaboration, speaking at schools and festivals across the globe, including OFFF, FITC, F5, Playgrounds, Semi-Permanent, AIGA and The Art Director's Club.

Miguel was most recently a Visiting Professor at RIT, instructing classes in web and user interface design. In 2005, he co-founded Dumbwaiter Design, LLC where he provided creative direction and interactive design for universities and not-for-profit companies. He graduated from RIT New Media Design in 2004, and holds an MFA in Industrial Design from RIT. He is now the Lead Designer at Imgix in San Francisco.

Len graduated from RIT in 1999 with a BFA in Industrial Design. He went on to work as an industrial designer for Brownlie Design for 9 years, where he had contracts with companies like Nalgene, Honda, and Raymond Corp. Presently he is the sole proprietor of Len Nicholas Design, with a concentration in product design, concept art for film and television. His clients have included Fisher Price, Spin Master, Hasbro, and Mattel.

Jeff has been a practicing Industrial Designer for almost 22 years. A graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, Jeff has worked on a wide range of products. This includes home appliances, Fitness equipment, medical, industrial, handheld and game/toy designs. As a passionate Designer, Jeff is a firm supporter of Design education. Jeff regularly hosts workshops for Schools and IDSA events to promote design sketching, design thinking and CAD modeling. In addition to professional work, Jeff was also an adjunct faculty member at the Art Institute of Ft Lauderdale for eight years in the ID department.

Product Designer | Localytics

Ali Ali is a UI/UX designer. He worked on “Google Now” at Google where he helped design the Material Design frame-work for all cards and other projects. In addition he worked on projects for Adobe, Boston Scientific, Kaspersky labs and more. Beyond his work as a professional designer, he taught design, animation and 3D modeling at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Currently he is a Product Designer at Localytics, a Boston based start up.

Ilana M. Schwartz

Ilana M. Schwartz is an Animator, Designer, and Coffee Cup Artist living in New York City. She has been working at Nickelodeon since she graduated RIT in May of 2014. Aside from the animation work she has done at Nick, she also pitches her own original content to the network at least once every month. Her past employers include Little Airplane Productions, Bill Plympton, and Rhino/Gravity VFX. Ilana has many goals and dreams, including having her own TV show on Nickelodeon, working as a Storyboard Artist in Los Angeles, and building a bigger following on her coffee art blog, "Java Doodles." One thing about Ilana is that she never gives up on her goals, and she wants to inspire others to have the same attitude towards life and the entertainment industry.

Jason has been with ChaseDesign since his graduation from RIT in 2004 and has helped grow their thriving retail design business. He has helped design successful retail marketing initiatives for clients such as Westin Hotels, Starbucks, Dolce & Gabbana and Proctor and Gamble. He is a thought provoking designer who pushes the status quo and challenges his team to be strategic problem solvers that use beautiful design as their tool. A champion of cognitive science, Jason has built a new design capability with our clients that dive deep into human behavior and why we buy and uses this knowledge to design successful campaigns.

Igor Sobolevsky

3D designer | ZAGG, Inc.

Igor Sobolevsky received his bachelors' degree in Illustration as well as master’s degree in Industrial Design at Rochester Institute of Technology. Currently he is working in the fields of concept, graphic and industrial design. He has worked for HalfPixel Games, an independent game studio based in Tel Aviv. Primary focus of the projects were concept art, game asset development as well as illustration. He has been featured in 3D Artist, 3D World as well as 3D Creative Magazines. He consults and designs for CTRL.me Robotics, a firm that specializes in UAV design for entertainment, security, and consumer fields. Igor worked as an instructor for graphic visualization at Rochester Institute of Technology. Currently, Igor is a in-house designer at ZAGG, specializing in 3D graphics and design.

Mitch Goldstein is a Rochester-based designer, educator, and podcast co-host. Before coming to RIT he taught at Rhode Island School of Design, Maryland Institute College of Art, and Virginia Commonwealth University, among others. When he’s not open-endedly inspiring a room full of students, he and his wife Anne often collaborate on projects that scream one clear message: Shut up and make something.

Mark Conge

Freelance 3D Artist

Marcus Conge is a freelance 3D artist and has been working professionally since graduating RIT in 1993. Marcus is known for creating art and animation for a variety of industries over the past 20 years. He has had the privilege to work with Ambrosia Software, Pangea Software, Freeverse Software and many others the world over. Notable game titles include Cro­Mag Rally for iOS, Redline for Mac OS, Aki for Mac OS & iOS, and Barrack for Mac OS. Marcus taught 3D modeling for Industrial Design at RIT. Using a bootcamp­style approach, he guided students through the design process from concept sketching to executing CAD­ready models. Marcus is currently partnering with Static Z Software and developing the UI/UX design for an audio application called Sound Siphon, and a screen recorder titled Iris, as well as a variety of future applications. When he isn’t working, Marcus spends his free time creating everyday 3D art in an endeavor to further his knowledge of Cinema 4D and animating modeling with MoGraph tools. Marcus proudly lives with his wife and two cats in Rochester, NY.

Richard Funnell is an award winning industrial designer with a passion for visualization & 3D rendering. His work experiences includes designing for the Bosch and Thermador brands, and he is currently responsible for customer training at Luxion, makers of KeyShot. He has trained at design studios globally for companies such as Microsoft, IDEO, Philips, Dell, and Nissan Design America.

Josh is an award-winning creative and founder of the experiential design company Fake Love. Since its inception, Fake Love has been a leader of design and technology and has been highly awarded by the creative community. Josh has spent over a decade as an innovator, working with artists, musicians, and brands to create global impact. As a direct result, he has built a company that is known for leveraging art, experience, and technology to develop new ways of connecting people to brands both digitally and physically.

Devin Roberts is an industrial designer with experience in both product and toy design. He has designed toys in collaboration with Pixar and Nickelodeon, and he has played a role in the development of internal Fisher-Price properties such as Rescue Heroes and Imaginext. More recently, Devin has focused on bringing new innovation to baby products for the newborn and infant markets; including high chairs, sleepers, and baby swings. He holds a BFA from The Cleveland Institute of Art, and an MBA from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo.

Principle Product Manager | Adobe

As principal product manager, Cathi provides product and business leadership to XD Studio, an internal product incubator employing design-led thinking and rapid prototyping to develop new products. Before joining XD, she owned the product strategy for the advertising, analytics, and data solutions within Adobe Primetime, a platform for streaming TV to connected devices. Prior to Adobe, Cathi has developed and launched a variety of new products, including wireless earbuds and self-service terminals. She earned an MBA from the Stanford University and a BA in Economics from Wellesley College. In her free time, she enjoys going to shows, playing the violin, and impromptu dance parties.

Jason Linder has been a practitioner of digital design and media for more than 15 years, combining interactivity, video, and motion graphics to create rich user experiences. During his career he has worked for both small agencies and large corporations, often contributing on all levels of a project's production — from strategy to code to visual design and brand. He holds an MFA in Design and an MBA in Design Strategy from California College of the Arts.

Michael Kelly is a first-year Industrial Design Graduate with a B.S. in Human Factors and Ergonomics from Cornell University. Before coming to RIT, he worked as a researcher in Insight & Exploration at Herman Miller. His research at Herman Miller was focused on making work healthier, happier, and more balanced. His graduate work is developing around the intersection of relationship psychology and product design. This workshop will focus on the most important relationships in our lives—and how the things around us can build or break them.

Shin is an award-winning User Experience Designer with 13+ years of experience in product user interface, mobile application, touch screen retail, rich Internet application, desktop application, retail website, and online branding campaign design. She has extensive experience in a wide range of design fields, including software user interface, web, motion graphics, product design, and architecture. She has worked on the concept project team with Jung Geun Tak at T.A.K. Studio since 2006. T.A.K. Studio’s sustainable concepts have won numerous awards and been reviewed in Innovation, PC Magazine, Metropolis Magazine, and ID Magazine. She has successfully worked on world-class client projects such as Nike, Eastman Kodak, FedEx, and Morgan Stanley. She currently works as a Senior UX LEAD for Adobe Systems, Inc., leading mobile product designs. She also serves as a judge of FWA (www.thefwa.com).

Michael Cragg is an experience designer at Adobe’s Experience Design group, creating new ideas and concepts through design and prototyping. Michael is passionate about solving problems by thinking systemically and having a strong empathy for users. Originally from Detroit, he graduated from College for Creative Studies with a focus on interactive and motion graphics.

Bryan is a native of Kokomo, IN, and attended East Tennessee State University and North East Tennessee State Technical College obtaining degrees in both Fine Arts and Chemistry. Bryan began his career in Fine Arts as a gallery manager before joining Eastman Chemical Company. He then worked for many years in polymer research alongside many talented PhD. chemists and engineers. As a result he communicates freely across the arts and sciences. Daily activities include creating new product concepts, product prototypes, 3d/CAD, as well as setting up and leading educational programs supporting M&P courses at the collegiate level across North America.

Industrial Design Manager | The Raymond Corporation

Greg Smiley is the Industrial Design Manager for The Raymond Corporation, a warehouse electric lift truck manufacturer in the Toyota Material Handling Group. Prior to Raymond, he worked in various freelance, corporate and consultant roles, primarily as a product designer in the consumer electronics industry. Besides over 20 material handling patents, he holds two “Glide Key” patents for text input on mobile phones. His interests include photography, music composition and various vehicle projects including aircraft (human powered helicopters), auto and watercraft designs (including a patent for Quick-Fold kayaks). Born and raised in New York’s Hudson Valley, he’s an ’87 ID graduate of the University of Bridgeport and completed additional course work in Human Factors at the University of Michigan. He is currently serving as IDSA CNY chapter chair and transportation chair.

Caitlin Morris is an artist and technologist working with digital and fabricated media. Coming from a background in architecture, she uses technology to create installations and experiences that explore the boundaries of the senses. Her work has been exhibited in Sonar Barcelona, Tech Open Air Berlin, Beijing Design Week, Future Everything Manchester, Cleveland Museum of Art, Distortion Copenhagen, Wired Magazine, and others.
